Introduction to Anderson Bushikai Martial Arts

The founder of Anderson Bushikai Martial Arts is OKaicho Malcolm Anderson.

Bushikai means 'Warrior Society'.  Its goal is to develop the physical and mental abilities of its members.

The essence of Bushikai is that its practitioners should be well-rounded in attitude and skills; and adaptable to unfamiliar situations. Our longer term view is to become better people by application of focus, discipline and co-operation.

The moral code at the core of Bushikai Martial Arts is called Bushido. The Japanese code of conduct as described in Bushido: The Soul of Japan by Inazo Nitobe. This code is taught and followed within the context of living in modern society.

The cornerstones of Bushido are Politeness, Rectitude, Courage, Benevolence, Sincerity, Loyalty, Duty, and Self-Control.

The physical skills taught include: balance, timing, body conditioning, empty-handed self-defence, strikes and blocks, grappling, wrestling, locks, holds, sweeps, throws, and weapon control and defences.

Application of these skills are taught in the context of one-on-one, one-on-many, and many-on-many confrontations
